In a major boost to India's clean energy transition, state-owned power generator NTPC has received formal approval from the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation (RRECL) to establish a pioneer 320 kW Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) pilot project at Bhadla Solar Park, Rajasthan.
Leveraging cutting-edge high-temperature ceramic modules developed by US-based 247Solar, the facility will capture solar radiation as thermal energy during daylight hours, storing it to enable dispatchable power generation round-the-clock, including after sunset. NTPC will collaborate closely with RRECL on implementation, starting with site surveys, structural testing, and initial feasibility evaluations. This initiative marks a crucial step forward in commercializing long-duration thermal energy storage across the national grid.
